Prohibited Items on GearSwitchr

The items listed below are prohibited from being listed, sold, or offered on the GearSwitchr marketplace. Attempting to list prohibited items will result in immediate removal and may lead to account suspension or permanent ban.
What We Allow
GearSwitchr is a peer-to-peer marketplace for buying, selling, and trading firearm accessories, tactical gear, outdoor equipment, and related items. Our marketplace specializes in legitimate, legal merchandise that complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
✅ Examples of allowed items:
- Firearm accessories (sights, scopes, grips, stocks, rail systems, mounts)
- Tactical gear (body armor, plate carriers, pouches, chest rigs, slings)
- Optics and optical accessories
- Ammunition storage, handling, and organization equipment
- Cleaning kits, maintenance tools, and gun care products
- Holsters, magazine holders, and carrying solutions
- Targets, range equipment, and ballistic testing materials
- Protective gear and safety equipment (eye protection, ear protection, gloves)
- Outdoor and tactical apparel
- Knives and bladed tools
What We Prohibit
To maintain legal compliance and community safety, the items listed below are strictly prohibited. This list is not exhaustive—GearSwitchr reserves the right to remove any listing deemed unsafe, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate.
1. Controlled Substances
- Illegal drugs (marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, LSD, etc.)
- Prescription medications not held by the seller for personal use
- Drug paraphernalia designed for consuming illegal substances
- NPS (new psychoactive substances) and designer drugs
2. Stolen Goods & Counterfeit Items
- Items suspected to be stolen or obtained illegally
- Counterfeit brand goods (fake designer items, knockoff gear)
- Goods with fraudulent documentation or altered serial numbers
Sellers are responsible for obtaining items legally. GearSwitchr is not responsible for verifying ownership, but we reserve the right to remove suspicious listings.
3. Hazardous Materials
- Asbestos or asbestos-containing products
- Lead paint or lead-based products (unless clearly disclosed and compliant with law)
- Pesticides, herbicides, or unregistered chemical products
- Radioactive materials (except items with minimal/naturally-occurring radiation like old watches)
- Mercury or mercury-containing items (thermometers, barometers)
- PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) or other persistent organic pollutants
4. Restricted Wildlife & Animal Products
- Endangered or protected animal species (live or pelts)
- Ivory, elephant tusks, or rhinoceros horn
- Items made from protected animals without CITES certification
- Live animals of any kind
Items from sustainably-managed sources with proper documentation may be allowed; contact support to verify.
5. Stolen or Cloned Electronics
- Stolen smartphones, laptops, or computers
- Items with "blacklisted" or "blocked" IMEI/Serial numbers
- Counterfeit electronics or software with fraudulent licenses
6. Hate Symbols & Extremist Materials
- Items bearing symbols associated with hate groups, terrorism, or extremism
- Materials promoting violence, discrimination, or illegal activity based on protected characteristics
- Nazi memorabilia (historical/educational items may be considered on a case-by-case basis)
7. Malware, Viruses & Technical Exploits
- Software, code, or files designed to disrupt or damage computer systems
- Malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, or trojans
- Hacking tools, exploits, or vulnerability databases for unauthorized access
- Phishing kits or tools designed for identity theft or fraud
- Botnets, DDoS tools, or network attack software
8. Recalled Products
- Items subject to active government or manufacturer recalls (except with explicit safety disclosure)
- Batteries, chargers, or electronic devices with known fire/safety hazards
9. Obscene or Illegal Content
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or anything related to child exploitation
- Obscene sexual materials (defined by local law)
- Bestiality or animal abuse materials
- Snuff films or extreme violence imagery
How We Enforce
GearSwitchr uses a combination of automated detection, user reports, and manual review to identify prohibited items:
- Listings matching prohibited criteria are removed automatically or after review
- Sellers of prohibited items receive a warning and an opportunity to appeal
- Repeated violations result in account suspension or permanent ban
- Suspected illegal activity is reported to appropriate law enforcement
Appeals & Questions
If your listing was removed and you believe it does not violate these rules, you may appeal by contacting support with:
- Your account username
- The listing ID or title
- A detailed explanation of why the item should be allowed
- Any supporting documentation (manufacturer spec sheets, certifications, etc.)
