GearSwitchr Marketplace Rules
Effective Date: January 20, 2026
These Marketplace Rules govern the conduct of all users on the GearSwitchr platform. By listing items or engaging in transactions, you agree to comply with these rules. Violations may result in listing removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
1. Listing Standards
Accurate Descriptions
- Listings must include an honest, detailed description of the item's condition, brand, model, and any defects or wear
- Photos must accurately represent the actual item being sold
- Pricing must be clearly stated and include any applicable shipping or local pickup information
- Do not use misleading titles, descriptions, or keywords to inflate search visibility
Item Condition
Use the provided condition ratings consistently:
- New/Never Used: Factory sealed or never taken out of packaging
- Like New: Unused or minimal use; appears unused
- Excellent: Minimal wear, functions perfectly
- Good: Normal wear, fully functional
- Fair: Visible wear, may have minor defects but functional
- For Parts: Non-functional or major defects
2. Communication & Conduct
- Respond to buyer inquiries within 24 hours when possible
- Do not spam users or send unsolicited promotional messages
- Keep all communication professional and respectful
- Do not harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Do not attempt to move transactions off-platform to avoid seller ratings or dispute resolution
- Honor the prices and terms you have listed; do not negotiate after a buyer has expressed firm interest
3. Transaction Practices
Agreements & Cancellation
- Once a buyer commits to a transaction, honor that commitment or offer a valid reason for cancellation
- Sellers who cancel without cause may lose community standing
- If circumstances change, communicate immediately with the buyer
Shipping & Delivery
- If offering shipping, clearly state shipping costs and estimated delivery times
- Ship items promptly (within 3–5 business days of payment)
- Use tracking and require signature for high-value items when applicable
- Package items securely to prevent damage in transit
- If local pickup is offered, respond to arrangement requests promptly
4. Prohibited Behaviors
- Do not list items you do not actually own or have the right to sell
- Do not use fake or misleading account information
- Do not attempt to manipulate search results, ratings, or reviews through fake accounts or collusion
- Do not share other users' personal information without consent
- Do not blackmail, extort, or threaten other users
- Do not circumvent or attempt to bypass GearSwitchr's safety features, filters, or moderation
- Do not engage in price gouging or unfair trade practices
- Do not list the same item multiple times to artificially inflate inventory
5. Photo & Content Guidelines
- Photos must show the actual item; stock images are not permitted
- Include multiple angles and close-ups of any damage or wear
- Do not include watermarks, logos, or branding of other sellers or websites
- Do not include personal information, contact details, or social media handles in photos
- Photos must not contain nudity, graphic violence, or hate symbols
6. Dispute Resolution & Feedback
- If a transaction goes wrong, communicate with the other party first to find a solution
- Report legitimate issues through the GearSwitchr feedback system
- Leave honest, fair feedback based on your actual experience
- Do not leave negative feedback as retaliation or leverage in a negotiation
- Feedback should focus on the transaction experience, not personal attacks
7. Enforcement & Consequences
GearSwitchr moderators monitor the marketplace for rule violations. Consequences include:
- Warning: First-time minor violations
- Listing Removal: Content violates marketplace standards
- Temporary Suspension: Repeated violations or moderate infractions
- Permanent Ban: Serious violations, fraud, or safety threats

8. Community Standards
GearSwitchr is committed to a safe, respectful community. We expect all users to:
- Treat others with respect, regardless of disagreement
- Report suspicious activity or safety concerns immediately
- Follow all applicable laws and regulations
- Assume good faith when others make mistakes
- Help create a trustworthy marketplace for everyone
